University of Westminster
Architecture Initiative Director Matt Goodwin has worked closely with the University of Westminster for nearly 20 years. During his time with Norman and Dawbarn Matt worked across a number of major campus developments, including the new School of Law, New Cavendish Street and Marylebone Road.
New Cavendish Street
A large-scale project, New Cavendish Street involved the completion of an urban campus development, a reworking of the original Lyons Israel Ellis Grey master-plan and insertion of a new 10 storey academic building. Campus arrangement was completed with new bars and restaurants creating a dynamic central core.
“The redevelopment programme has led to the creation of a vibrant ‘Learning Platform’ space at the heart of the Campus, along with new multi-purpose facilities to host events including exhibitions, seminars and forums, all underpinned by our sustainable environmental agenda.”

First completed in the 1970s, the modernisation of the Marylebone Road campus was delivered in response to the ever-changing requirements of the student population.
Dubbed ‘The Learning Platform’ this new development provides a tolerant, flexible and multi- functional learning environment at the heart of the campus. Opened in the new 2012 academic year The Learning Platform has transformed the way in which education is delivered on campus.
