Fulham Boys School
The demolition and redevelopment of the existing police station on Fulham Road in west London will provide the opportunity to provide a permanent new home for the successful Fulham Boys School, who have been housed in temporary accommodation for a number of years.
This mixed-use development will also provide a new police station and nine apartments in an integrated campus style development.
The development potential of the restricted inner London site has been maximised and incorporates a deep basement. The four storey building hugs the pavement line along its exterior face mirroring the predominant local development pattern, whilst wrapping around an internal courtyard that provides informal place space for the 1000 pupils on site, in a protected and safe environment.
The police counter remains a significant presence on Fulham Road, and the seven storey residential component is located away from the main road on Heckfield Place.
The building facades are primarily brick to the public faces, designed to be a contemporary interpretation of the prevailing vernacular. The completed development will be a significant civic intervention in this important street-scape
