jurassic city
Is talking about Dinosaurs returning a waste of time? or was Spielberg onto something in 1996? The final movie of the Jurassic Park saga ‘Dominion’ proves 21st century civilization could survive amongst Dinosaurs.
But could our cities?
We opened our studio doors on Friday 24th June for this year’s LFA Studio Lates, to showcase our architectural models with a few Jurassic guests. We also asked the question - could London withstand a prehistoric apocalypse?
The answer… (hypothetically) is no. Despite the fact London has roughly 47% green space areas, ideal for herbivores such as the brachiosaurus and 2.5% of the city is water – perfect for one or two Megalodons, our great city wouldn’t survive the brutal and destructive behaviours of our prehistoric villains.
We’ve all seen the blockbuster movies with giant apes climbing up infamous towers and prehistoric transformers (Hollywood gone mad) destroying our beloved cities and intergalactic monsters appearing from the sky above New York – but how and who rebuilds cities on a gigantic and global scale? The initial destruction would collapse any countries economy for years, possibly centuries, so how could a city such as London afford the constant rebuild after epic fights for food.
