derby hall

On the site of a former public house Derby Hall provides Haringey’s local neighbourhood with a place to bring the community together alongside residential apartments.

Derby Hall on Westgreen Road will include a church and supporting facilities such as office space and community rooms amalgamated under one roof with a 45 place nursery/childrens’ daycare centre and cafe. Above the mixed-use arrangement, five apartments offer new homes for the area.

Architecture Initiative have retained the locally listed façade of a former public house with the new building slotted behind, telling the story of the site’s heritage through a layering of the architecture. The design language is deliberately modern yet context-driven and despite it’s somewhat simple and minimal design, the space inside is colourful and vibrant.

Our studio worked closely with the client, Assemblies of God, to realise their vision for a 300 place church.
