Architecture Initiative to design Ealing’s first education-led mixed use scheme
Ark Soane is a regeneration project that represents the first major mixed-use, education-led scheme in Ealing. This will be first time that residential development has been positioned above a school in a well-designed integrated arrangement within the borough.
We won planning permission in September for our proposal that involves demolishing the former Acton and West London College buildings to make way for the new school and residential development which will be run by education charity, Ark. Ark Soane is the latest project in a trend of our planning approvals, where a mixed-use proposal serves as a mechanism for delivering high-quality education facilities in areas where land values are high and as result, standalone education projects would be financially unsustainable.
Why is it that developers seem to shy away from education when it comes to curating mixed-use schemes? We believe that more schools would be an obvious choice when trying to deliver the best socio-economic results for communities.
Construction will begin at Ark Soane in the new year, one of our most significant projects to date.
