Successful MIPIM UK
Last week, Architecture Initiative was given an amazing opportunity to share a stand with LocatED, the biggest property start-up and land buyer in the UK. With a multi-billion pound budget, LocatED will buy and develop sites for free schools in England. Owned by Department for Education (DfE), the newly launched company will be supporting the government’s commitment to open 500 new free schools by 2020.
Local Authorities can secure much needed school places in their area, funded by EfA, by identifying and bringing forward development opportunities for free schools, either through the provision of land or opportunities for mixed use developments.
Architecture Initiative have been selected by EfA framework partner JLL to work with their team to develop a series of major mixed-use education-led regeneration projects, which explore new ways of developing effective learning and challenge preconceptions of what schools look like in our cities.
It is exciting to be involved in an initiative which puts creating sustainable urban communities at the top of the agenda.
MIPIM UK 2016 was a huge success for Architecture Initiative and we met with a raft of private and public sector clients to promote the mixed-use model for education development.
We look forward to consolidating these opportunities and new relationships in the coming months.
